Biography

Eleanor’s practice focuses on estate planning and administration as well as on estate litigation. She also practices medical malpractice defence litigation.

Eleanor’s estate law practice is wide ranging, from drafting wills to litigation and mediation of estate disputes. She is empathetic and understands the complex family dynamics and emotional circumstances of estate disputes. She seeks to empower her clients and ensure that they understand the legal processes, their rights, their risks, and their options. 

In her estate drafting and administration practice, Eleanor works with clients to develop personalized estate and incapacity plans. She prepares wills, enduring powers of attorneys, and personal directives as well as guardianship and trusteeship applications. In her administration practice Eleanor prepares probate and grant of administration applications and advises personal representatives throughout the estate administration process. 

Eleanor’s estate litigation and mediation practice focuses on will challenges based on capacity and interpretation, applications for advice and direction, removal and replacement of personal representatives, trustee compensation, contested accounting, and power of attorney litigation. She is experienced in challenging wills for dependent support through maintenance and support claims for spouses and adult children. 

Eleanor is a student member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is working towards her designation as a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP). In 2023, Eleanor completed the Women in Law Leadership Education Program at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Law.

Outside of office work, Eleanor is an advocate for access to justice initiatives. She is an executive member of the Board of Directors of Pro Bono Law Alberta. She is also a founding director of the Great Bar Band Battle Society, which hosts a battle of the bands fundraiser featuring musically inclined members of Calgary’s legal community. Since 2016, the Great Bar Band Battle Society has donated over $150,000 to local organizations that support access to justice such as Calgary Legal Guidance, Student Legal Assistance and Pro Bono Law Alberta. 

Upon graduating law school Eleanor received the University of Calgary Faculty of Law Silver Medal.
